The Schneider Corporation Taps Michael Miller for Director of Land Surveying at Charlotte Office

The Schneider Corporation, providers of creative engineering solutions for land, infrastructure and facilities projects that help increase revenue, lower costs and mitigate risk, announced that Michael S. Miller has joined its Charlotte, N.C. office as director of land surveying. Schneider's Charlotte office services more than 170 clients in North Carolina and the mid-east region, including Carmel Contractors, City of Charlotte, Crosland, DR Horton Homes, Duke Energy and Shiel Sexton. Schneider's work in the Charlotte office focuses on environmental, energy and infrastructure projects.

Local governments get smarter about land use

Lest you imagine that the idea of a smart city exists somewhere in a far-off future, an effort being spearheaded by Schneider Corp. is bringing real applications to municipalities across the U.S. midwest and southeast regions in the here and now.

Schneider's products include engineering surveys and geographic systems, including Beacon, which is an application for digitizing and searching public records. For an idea of the value Beacon can bring to a town or region, I spoke with Rusty Kahrs, commissioner for Pettis County, Missouri.

Beacon Endorsed By Indiana Association of Cities and Towns

Volunteers spruce up Oaklandon Play Park

Oaklandon's play park has been given a face-lift by some local volunteers.

The park -- which includes a large wooden structure for children and a picnic area -- was installed in Lawrence on East 65th Street in 1990. It had fallen into disrepair, said Eric Martin, parks director.

Schneider Becomes Recertified as a MICCS Safety Partner

The Schneider Corporation was recently notified by the Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety (MICCS) that for the second year it has met the standards to be a Certified Partner. MICCS is an Indianapolis-area organization which promotes the adoption of safety-related industry standards that are more stringent than many other safety rules and regulations, such as OSHA. In 2007, Schneider’s safety statistics were considerably better than the numbers that MICCS requires for their certified partners.

Schneider Project Wins ACEC Merit Award

The Schneider Corporation was recognized on Saturday with a Merit Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) at the organization’s 2008 Engineering Excellence Awards program. Schneider was recognized for work in 2007 when Schneider was contracted by Vigo County and the City of Terre Haute to provide geospatial information system (GIS) services that would be beneficial for both Vigo County and Terre Haute by helping local governments to save money and better utilize resources.
